What is a twin home?

A twin home, also known as a semi-detached house, is a type of residential property that consists of two separate residences built side by side and sharing a common central wall. Each residence has its own entrance, backyard and driveway but the two residences may share walls, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, and other utilities. Twin homes are typically designed and built with mirror-image layouts, with each residence having the same floor plan and square footage as the other. This type of housing is popular in urban and suburban areas and can offer more affordability and privacy compared to other types of housing such as apartments or townhouses.
